Affordable Care Act
(Obamacare) Marketplace

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, is a health care reform law enacted in March 2010 aimed at increasing health insurance coverage, reducing health care costs, and improving the health care system in the United States.

It established health insurance marketplaces for individuals to purchase coverage, expanded Medicaid eligibility in participating states, and introduced consumer protections like prohibiting denial of coverage for pre-existing conditions and allowing young adults to remain on their parents' plans until age 26. The ACA also mandated essential health benefits and preventive services to be covered without cost-sharing, striving to make health care more accessible and affordable.
